“ | Don’t make me laugh. Why would I have nothing? I don’t need to hear anymore from a dead man. Get lost. | ” |
—Lucas recalls the words his instructor once said.[3] |
Lucas is a supporting character in Who Made Me a Princess and the powerful Magician of the Black Tower. After successfully stabilizing Athanasia's overflowing mana,[4] he was appointed as the official companion of the crown princess.[5]
Appearance
As a powerful magician, Lucas is able to alter his appearance at will. Though his original form is that of an adult,[6] he adopted a child-like appearance to conserve his depleted mana[7] after awakening from a magic-induced slumber. As an adult, Lucas had long black hair that extended to the small of his back.[6] He decided to cut his hair short during the years he spent growing up alongside Athanasia.[8] He has ruby eyes that occasionally glow red, and a single beauty mark under his left eye. Throughout the series, Lucas wears a variety of ensembles, including robes, waistcoats, and a magician's coat. Several female characters have described him as handsome, with an aura of deep solitude and loneliness.[9]
Personality
Lucas presents himself in public as a good-natured, respectable individual. As an imperial magician, he possesses proper savoir-faire and treats others with common decency. Underneath this facade, however, Lucas is ruthless and ill-tempered. He fails to understand the value of human life and will not hesitate to eliminate inconveniences. Having lived for many years, Lucas does not sense the passing of time and subsequently cannot grasp the significance of human values. He perceives death as a natural occurrence in the cycle of life and rarely empathise with those who mourn for their losses. Rather than imparting his vast knowledge onto others, Lucas maintains a condescending attitude towards those who do not meet his standards. He is capable of analyzing others with a single glance and manipulate them at will. As an extremely conceited and vain individual, Lucas has on several occasions declared himself as the most attractive and talented person of the empire. Despite these qualities, Lucas has expressed empathy and generosity towards those who have gained his favor. He is insightful of other people's emotions, though he fails to comprehend his own.
