Jennette Margarita, also known as Jennette de Alger Obelia, is a supporting character in Who Made Me a Princess and the protagonist of the fictional novel, The Lovely Princess. In the original timeline, she was a beloved princess whose angelic demeanor and sunny disposition eventually melted the icy heart of Claude de Alger Obelia, the ruthless reigning monarch of the Obelian Empire.[8] In the new timeline, Jennette is forced to hide her relations to the imperial bloodline as she waits for an opportunity to reunite with her family.[9]

Appearance

Jennette has waist-length brown hair that is often worn curled with straight bangs falling into her jewel-blue eyes, an inherited trait from the Oblian imperial family.[10] When she is out in public, Jennette obscures this trait with a magical ring, which turns her eyes into a matte blue. Currently, she has peridot-green eyes like her late mother Penelope Judith after Lucas removed the mana inside them.

Although she is typically dressed in modest clothing, Jennette is described by many to be extremely beautiful and her appearance resembles that of Penelope.[11]

Personality

Jennette is a very kind-hearted individual, genuinely cherishing those she values. She is widely noted for her gentle charisma.[8] Due to a sheltered upbringing, she is extremely naïve and trusting towards others. Her ignorance tends to attract those who wish to take advantage of her birthright. She has a simple mindset and often struggles to choose between her own desires and helping others. In contrast to Athanasia de Alger Obelia of the present timeline, who actively works to build familial ties, Jennette possesses an over-idealized vision of what family means, believing that relatives should offer each other unconditional love and support.[12] Estranged from those she believes are her true family, Jennette has developed a fear of being left alone and harbors a selfish desire to keep her family to herself. Despite this, she willingly sets aside her own happiness for the sake of others.

Magic

Being born of dark magic, Jennette possesses mana waves that are not of pure imperial blood.[13] The estrangement from her family strengthened Jennette's desire to be loved, allowing her magic to subconsciously draw others towards her.[14]

Etymology

  • The name "Jennette" is the diminutive form of Jeanne and means "God is gracious" in Hebrew.[15]
    • Variations of the name include but are not limited to Janet, Jeanne and Jeanetta.[15]
  • The surname "Margarita" is derived from the Persian word Morvared, meaning "pearl" or "cluster of blossoms."[16]
    • "Margarita" is the term used for the daisy flower in Spanish.[16]

Trivia

  • Jennette received the nickname "chimera" when Lucas noticed at first glance that her mana waves are not that of a pure imperial bloodline.[13]
    • The Greek mythological creature, chimera, was a monstrous hybrid creature with the head of a goat, the body of a lion and a tail of a snake.[17]
  • Jennette's original height was 164 cm (5'3).[18] In the officially-released fourth volume of the manhwa series, Jennette's height was rectified to 166cm (5'4).[19]
  • According to Spoon, Jennette is drawn mildly and sorrowfully. Her strength is that she is pure and altruistic.[20]
