Lucas admits to himself that if something were to happen to Athanasia, he could see himself causing such a future. Lucas confesses that his hesitance stems from the fact that Athanasia could die. Athanasia apologizes to Jennette Margarita, revealing she has known Jennette’s true identity since the debutante ball. Athanasia admits that she was worried about her position in the palace, acknowledging herself as a coward. Athanasia looks up to find a weeping Jennette, who apologizes for her impulsive actions. Athanasia embraces Jennette, figuring the kindness Jennette holds is the reason she could never hate her.
