Summary[]
Athanasia encounters Jennette and Anastacius. Roger explains that Jennette is in fact, the daughter of the late emperor Anastacius. Athanasia is enraged by the fact that Anastacius is yet again using Jennette as a shield in his political endeavors. Aeternitas comments on the poor condition of Anastacius’ body and considers possessing Jennette. Meanwhile, Athanasia, struggling to tolerate the nobles, realizes she had forgotten to greet Jennette.
