Summary[]
Anastacius feigns concern for Jennette's happiness and questions whether her affections for Claude and Athanasia are sincerely reciprocated. As Jennette notices how well Anastacius understands Claude, Roger quickly intervenes before Anastacius loses his temper. Roger then realizes that his presence was undetected because Anastacius has not fully recovered his magic. Meanwhile, Jennette becomes troubled by Anastacius's words and decides to ask Athanasia what she would do if they were truly sisters.
