Summary[]
Claude continues to summon Jennette to ease his headaches and sleep. Though initially thrilled to continue spending time with the emperor, she realizes that they have never held a proper conversation, as Claude never expresses curiosity towards her. Noticing that Athanasia also neglects to ask questions, Jennette becomes disheartened by the persistent distance between herself and her true family. She confides with Anastacius her troubles, expressing her belief that family should have unconditional love for one another.
